The Puffin mobile browser is fast, wicked fast. It’s clearly faster than Apple’s built-in Safari, plus it’ll run Flash-based web sites. In some situations, this is quite handy. For most situations, it probably won’t change your life. There’s some nifty additional features, too, like a built-in trackpad mouse pointer option, which is handy for those times you’re browsing complicated sites and need a fine-grained mouse point.
There are some potential downsides, though, that I noticed in my initial explorations: At one point I lost my ability to connect to websites via Puffin while I retained the ability via Safari. Not sure, exactly, why. A quick reboot of the app fixed it, though. And while Flash works, my initial test of playing back a TV show resulted in audio that was mismatched with the video. All-in-all, I love the snappy feel but I’ll have to use it more before I’m willing to displace the slow-but-sure Safari.
